FROM REAL LIFE TO REEL LIFE
We are coming into an age of digital dependence where, without realising it, we are not only getting hooked into the digital world but also being quite unaware of the impact of facing a screen – whether large or small, for work or, in the case of our phones – for leisure.
In this next Taunton Health hub talk, Viv Grant will be exploring digital health, wellbeing, and online safety. Discover practical strategies to manage the problematic impact of screen time, understand algorithmic influence, raise awareness of how digital surveillance can re-appropriate our data to third parties for exploitation. Share tips on how to support your own and your family’s digital mental health, and make informed choices how to strike a healthy, balanced relationship with everyday digital devices embedded into our lives.
Viv holds a Master’s degree in Education (MA Ed), with published research exploring how online teaching and learning shapes educational practice and digital identities in post-16 education. An accredited coach with the Association for Coaching for over 10 years, increasingly, some of her work with clients focuses on the impact of digital technology and social media on identity, mental health, wellbeing and screen-time addiction. Alongside her coaching business, Viv has more than 35 years’ experience as a qualified Teacher Educator & researcher in Higher & Postgraduate Education. She has delivered seminars on digital innovation, online safety, safeguarding, and healthy engagement with technology. Viv is unique in that she works across postgraduate education, wellbeing and the creative sectors.
